Bone Graft and Sinus Lifting

Treatment process

Volume measurement

Existing bone height and width are measured to the millimetre on tomography, and the missing volume is calculated.

Graft application

Synthetic, bovine-derived, or the patient's own bone graft material is placed at the site.

Membrane coverage

A barrier membrane is placed over the graft to keep it in place and prevent gum tissue from growing in.

Healing and implant

After 4–6 months the new bone matures and the implant is placed safely. In suitable cases the graft and implant can be done in the same session.

Frequently asked questions

It is safe in experienced hands. The most common issue is thinning or tearing of the sinus membrane, which can be repaired during the procedure.

The grafts used are processed so they don't trigger an immune response. The graft acts as a scaffold and is gradually replaced by the patient's own bone.

Your removable denture can be relieved so it does not press on the graft site. Details are planned during healing.

The graft's success depends on smoking, gum health and hygiene. Under the right conditions the success rate is quite high.
